How to Write Content for Digital Marketing

Much of your success in digital marketing will rely on a steady stream of web page updates, blogs, news items and social media posts; fresh, dynamic content that informs, educates, persuades and influences.

Here are a few tips on content to get you started. These form the basis of an effective content marketing strategy.

How to write content for digital marketing

1. Know your audience

Good content talks directly to your ideal customer. You need to drill down on your target audiences and their buying behaviours and preferences. What do they want to hear?

2. Reinforce your brand

Page visitors and social media browsers make their minds up about you in a split second. They won’t linger to read lots of flowery text or wade through endless scrolling images, so make your brand statements loud, clear and compelling. Tell them why they should buy from you, in a way they can appreciate instantly.

3. Look at your competitors

Evaluating your own content strategy against your main competitors should be a constant process. What are they saying and what imagery are they showing?

4. SEO matters!

Your content is the central pillar of Search Engine Optimisation. Keep track of what keywords and questions your customers use when searching for your products or services. Make sure to work those naturally into your copy, as ‘keyword stuffing’ detracts from your SEO and your credibility.

5. User experience (UX)

Carefully consider the best ways to improve the UX on your mobile responsive website and within your social media. For example, your text should be succinct and sum up your products and services in a clear way. Your images should be strong.

For eCommerce websites, pay particular attention to content and UX on payment pages. Make the process easy and reassuringly safe to use.

6. CTAs

Lastly, make your calls to action prominent and persuasive to encourage your customers to get in touch with you or make a purchase.

How Long Does It Take to Design a Website?

Creating a website from scratch can take days, weeks, or even months. With so many variables in the website development process, the time required varies from one project to another. While we cannot give you a definite answer of how long website creation takes, we will be sharing the four steps of website creation and will give you a rough estimate of how long it takes to design a website.

Planning process to design a website

Without proper planning, you will lose sight of your goals and end up creating a website that isn’t suitable for your business. Therefore, the first thing you should do when developing your website is gauge your needs and create a plan. Communicate your primary goals with your website developer and let them know the pages and functionality you want your site to have. The planning process for a standard website takes about one to two weeks.

Design process

Once you have a plan of action in place, it’s now time to start designing your website. At this stage, your web designer should give a mock-up of how your website will appear based on your requirements. If there are any changes that you want to be made, communicate them early before development begins. The design process can take anywhere between one to three weeks.

The development phase

In this next stage, your website developer takes all the information you’ve given them and turns it into a fully functional website. Your web designer should always keep you in the loop of the progress being made because you may wish to change a key part of your website once you see it in action. As expected, this stage takes longer to complete because changes take longer to make. In most cases, it takes at least one month to fully develop a standard website.

Final review

Before any website is officially finished, it must go through one final round of revisions. This is to ensure that it looks and works as you anticipated. If there are no major changes required, then this process should take no more than two weeks.

What is Website Design and Development?

Setting up a new website for your company involves several processes, including the design of the user interface, content creation, code writing, usability testing and website hosting.

These processes are often bundled together under a single term, such as ‘web design’ or ‘web development’. As a result, many people are often confused about what a web designer or developer actually does.

It’s common to assume that developers and designers do the same job, but the reality is that these are very different disciplines with very different skill sets. So, in this article, we hope to clear up the confusion about these two very different but important roles.

What is website design?

Web design is the process of designing content so that it can be displayed effectively on the web. Web designers typically come from a graphic design background where they have developed the skills to display text and images to deliver a coherent message.

This is done by using several traditional graphic design methodologies such as typography, colour theory, contrast, proximity and repetition, combined with user-centred methodologies such as user experience design and interface design.

A web designer does not typically need to know how to write the underlying code that holds all these pieces together. However, in practice, many web designers, especially at smaller firms, do know how to write code.

What is website development?

Web development is the process of writing the code that holds all the graphical elements together. This process can be broken down into two disciplines: front-end and back-end development.

Front end developers write the code that is read by web browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. This is done using the markup languages HTML and CSS, which provide the foundation of every web page, as well as JavaScript, which adds more interactive features.

Back-end developers write the code that is used by the webserver. In a typical scenario, back-end code is used to communicate information held in a database to the web browser. Popular backend languages include PHP, Ruby, and Python.

These two methods of development are so different that the role of a web developer is often defined as either front-end or back-end development. However, as with design, there are developers who specialise in both. These are known as full-stack developers

Is Web Development a Part of Digital Marketing?

You may not think that a web design company has much to offer your digital marketing strategy. But is web development a part of digital marketing after all? The answer is yes, it is – web design services can be an essential part of your online promotional plans. Working with a web developer can make the rest of your digital marketing efforts much more effective, and make a key difference in ensuring long term success.

Is web development a part of digital marketing?

A website design company can make your website look amazing – that’s a given. A good-looking website isn’t enough, however. It also needs to be as easy as possible for search engines to find. This is why web development can take a key role in your digital marketing strategy. If you understand how you intend to promote your website, a web developer can ensure your website is properly primed to help search engine optimisation however it can. This can be through a number of ways, including the use of appropriate keywords, developing content, photos, building your website authority, or giving you the key website elements to promote elsewhere, such as secure checkout.

Another essential element of digital marketing is making sure that your website is accessible to everyone. Remember that a large portion of your traffic will be coming from mobile devices, so it’s important your website is streamlined enough to load quickly on mobiles and tablets as well as desktops. Understanding that your website is easy to access can inform the rest of your digital marketing strategy, by allowing you to broaden the channels through which you promote your website.

Choosing the right web developers

As with the rest of your digital marketing plan, quality web development depends on choosing the right team to work with. You need an experienced team of web development professionals, with both the creativity and collaborative tools required to understand what you’re looking to achieve with your website and make it a reality for you.

That’s why when you’re building your digital marketing plan you should contact Real Internet. Our team is capable of streamlining and preparing your website to become an integral tool in your online promotions.

What Is the Difference Between Ecommerce and Digital Marketing?

Although eCommerce and digital marketing are closely intertwined, they are certainly not one and the same.

eCommerce deals with selling and buying goods and services across the internet, while digital marketing focuses on promotional strategies that drive traffic to your eCommerce store. Learning the difference between the two is crucial for your business because these processes work closely together. So, what is the difference between eCommerce and digital marketing?

eCommerce

Like a bricks-and-mortar business, eCommerce businesses require a channel where customers can browse through the inventory and order goods and services, and this is often a website. When running an eCommerce store, one of the first things you will have to do is create a website that displays all your items. A website also allows you to process orders and accept payments from customers. That said, having a great site isn’t enough in eCommerce. You will need to advertise your business to generate traffic to your site, and this is where digital marketing comes in.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is essential to the success of eCommerce. It helps you reach your target audience and converts the incoming traffic into paying customers. Some examples of digital marketing include:

SEO

Search engine optimisation focuses on your site’s ranking on search engines such as Google, Bing, etc. It helps your website become more discoverable by optimising your content using relevant keywords and quality backlinks. SEO generates organic traffic, which means that you won’t pay for each visit on your site.

SMM

Social media marketing is one of the most powerful methods of advertising today. It can help you raise brand awareness, create a brand identity, increase engagement, and increase website traffic. All you need to do is select a few social media platforms and consistently publish content relevant to your brand.

PPC

Pay-per-click advertising requires that you pay search engines every time a user clicks on your ad.

Although different, eCommerce and digital marketing work together to grow and prosper your business. For digital marketing and web design services, please contact us today to talk to our team of experts.

What is Social Media Marketing in Digital Marketing

Social media marketing is the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, etc., to market your company’s products and services. It involves publishing tailored content on various platforms, running social media ads, and engaging with your audience.

This form of digital marketing helps you connect with your target market to drive more traffic to your website, increase sales, and build your brand.

Five Pillars of Social Media Marketing

Strategy

The first step to a successful social media campaign is creating a strategy. This step requires you to think long and hard about your goals and how social media can help you achieve them. Do you want to increase brand awareness or increase sales and website traffic? Understanding your goals will help you choose suitable social media platforms and the type of content that will be shared.

Planning and Publishing

When running your business’s social media accounts, consistency is key. You must draft a plan of what your content will look like and decide when it will be published on your various platforms. Posting your content at the right time and frequency allows you to reach your audience when they are most active.

Listening and Engagement

As your following grows, conversations about your business will also increase. Your followers will engage with you by commenting on your posts, messaging you directly, and tagging you on their social media posts. As this happens, it is crucial that you monitor all conversations about your brand. You can manually check your notifications on all social media platforms, but this isn’t efficient. Therefore, consider using a social media listening and engaging tool that sums up all your social media mentions and messages, including those that didn’t tag your company’s social media profile.

Analytics and Reporting

As you continue with social media marketing, it is critical that you find out how your posts are performing. How many new followers did you get this month? How many people used your brand’s hashtag? Which type of post did your followers most engage with? Finding answers to these questions will help you adjust your strategy as required, so ensure that you get reports of engagement and reach every so often.

Advertising

Purchasing social media advertisements is a great way to further promote your brand. They help you reach a wider audience by allowing you to create target audiences based on their interests, behaviours, demographics, etc.

The White House, Newquay

Last week, we completed an upgrade and refresh of the website for The White House, Newquay. Their old website didn’t reflect the luxurious style of the hotel and now it promotes it in all its glory!

The White House Hotel is a beautiful period building ideally located in Newquay and a short walk to the bars, shops, restaurants, and the magnificent beaches of Newquay. It is the perfect destination for guests who wish to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings while exploring the magnificent North Cornish coast. North-Cornwall-coast

The new owners have devoted lots of time and money upgrading the hotel over the past year and wanted the website to reflect the hotel’s focus on opulence, luxury, and timeless elegance.

We had several discussions with the owners about how they wanted the website to look and feel and produced a few options for them. After taking time to deliberate, they came back with the perfect choice to showcase the hotel and its gorgeous rooms.

The owners provided us with the copy content and plenty of images we could use for each room, as well as for the general facilities.

The opulent font we used for the page headings is the same as The White House uses on their business cards and other stationery, so it all ties in together and creates an overall brand impression. And the font we used for the body text is very neat which complements the heading text perfectly.

After many back-and-forth conversations deciding on the best images and placing of the text, we finished the new website, and it went live last week.

As a team, we are pleased with how it looks and, more importantly, the owners extremely happy with the end result.

If you have a website that’s looking a bit tired and in need of a refresh, or if you need a completely new website built for you, please contact the Real Internet team.

What is a Persona in Digital Marketing

A persona in digital marketing is a fictional representation of your target customer based on market research and actual data from your existing customers. These characters have illustrative pictures and fictional names that help make them tangible to marketers. When creating personas, marketers go beyond the standard demographic questions; they drill into your customers’ psyche to better understand what drives them to make a purchase. In this blog post, we explore what is a persona in digital marketing and why they are important.

What is a persona in digital marketing and how to create one?

Buyer personas are created from a combination of these five key modalities:

1. Psychographic – This module focuses on the interests, values, lifestyles, aspirations, and opinions of the customer.
2. Demographic – Customer demographics are the unique identities and identifiers of individuals. They include basic information such as age, gender, location, level of education, marital status, etc.
3. Transactional – This reveals an individual’s purchase history and post-sale service records.
4. Behavioural – This module captures data passively by learning where individuals spend time online, what type of content they engage with, which social media platforms they use, what they search online, etc.
5. Ethnographic – It involves participatory observation where information is gathered by watching subjects in their daily routines.

To gather this information, you can look through your customer database to uncover how customers find and consume your content. You can also use surveys and form fields that capture essential persona information when customers use your website. Alternatively, you can interview customers and prospects to find out what they like about your products.

Benefits of using buyer personas in digital marketing

A better understanding of your target customer

Personas are critical to digital marketing because they give you a better understanding of your ideal customer. They give you a deeper insight into their needs, likes, preferred shopping methods, etc., allowing you to better connect with them.

Targeted marketing

Buyer personas provide you with critical information that enables you to segment your marketing campaigns. They help you customise your content and distribute it using their preferred channels.

Increased efficiency

Personas enable you to speak your customers’ language. Since you already know what they like and how best to reach them, your digital marketing campaigns will increase conversions and sales.

What does digital marketing involve

In the world of online shopping, digital marketing is the key to any successful business. Digital marketing is a process that involves using the internet and various digital software to promote products or services.

Digital marketing will often stretch across several digital platforms to reach a wide audience, but the process is far more than just posting an advert on Facebook. There are many ways that businesses can effectively market their products or services online. So, what does digital marketing involve?

What does digital marketing involve?

A successful digital marketing campaign will involve a strong strategy that is often overlooked by a digital marketing manager. The process requires research, planning and skilful execution.

Audience research

Before creating a digital marketing campaign, it is important that you know what will appeal to your audience. There is no point in running a campaign that doesn’t attract the right people. Usually, businesses will carry out audience research to find out what works and what doesn’t. This means that you can create a campaign that ticks all the right boxes.

Social media marketing

Social media platforms are a valuable tool for any digital marketing campaign. Instagram has over one billion monthly active users – that’s one billion potential people that you could reach with a good social media marketing campaign! Most digital marketing campaigns will develop a social media strategy that works with the algorithm of each platform and ensures that posts are seen by as many potential customers as possible.

Search Engine Optimisation

Each day, an estimated 3.5 billion searches are made on Google alone. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a way of using this to the advantage of your digital marketing campaign by optimising the content in your website for the searches that are being made. Performing SEO will give your website a higher chance of being found within search engines, which will drive more visitors to your site.

Creating a brand

Creating a strong, recognisable brand is the best way to ensure digital marketing success. Brands work because they are recognisable, trustworthy, and professional and assure potential customers that the products or services that you offer are high quality. Branding will involve a strong website/social media theme, a good logo, synergy across marketing materials and an effective brand voice.

Real Internet have a team of experts on hand to help you create the best branding and logo design for your marketing campaign. How to implement a digital marketing strategy

Digital marketing is undoubtedly the future of marketing and advertising, but for it to be effective, you need a cohesive digital marketing strategy. It will help you identify your business’s unique selling points, and it will also help you communicate that message to your target audience through various digital channels. If you already have your digital marketing strategy in place, here are some tips on how to implement it to ensure that you get a high return on your investment.

Analyse your current marketing strategy

Before implementing your new digital marketing strategy, it is crucial that you go through the results of your current marketing efforts. You can use a variety of quantitative research methods to analyse the effects of your marketing campaigns. These tests should give you a quantifiable number of the people who acted upon your campaign. Doing this will give you a better understanding of your current customer, target customer, and the effectiveness of your marketing materials.

Curate a strong digital marketing team

To implement your digital marketing strategy flawlessly, you will need to work with a team of highly skilled individuals. Firstly, you will need to get a creative content creator to produce compelling digital campaigns for all your social media posts, blog posts, emails, etc. Secondly, you will need an analytics expert to research and analyse the effects of your current and future marketing efforts. They will help you see what methods are working for your business and which ones aren’t. Lastly, you will need a user experience expert who can evaluate users’ intentions and tailor your digital content to their needs.

Ensure that your landing pages can handle increased traffic

The goal of digital marketing is to increase traffic to your website. Therefore, you must consider where the increased traffic from your social media campaigns and online ads will lead to, to prevent your website from crashing. If you suspect that your web host will not be able to cope with the influx of new users, contact them to devise a carefully measured preventative strategy.
